Space Mnemonics

To help them remember the order of the planets in our solar system, the children have been creating their own space mnemonics.

Tag Rugby with HSSP

Year Five are currently lucky enough to have teachers from the HSSP coming in to teach rugby as part of this term's P.E.  The children are making great progress!

 In Geography, we started learning about the structure of the Earth. After exploring each layer in detail, the children created some creative writing describing their 'Journey to the Centre of the Earth'.

Planet Distances

 

To kick start our space learning, we ventured outside to measure the distance between the planets. Can you see Neptune right at the back??

Ball Throw Task

Recently, some children created 'sequenced videos'. Their task was to "Film a ball being thrown from one location and into another, so that the transition looks realistic, but the viewer knows it is not." Below are two examples of their work.

Life Bus!

Year Five were lucky enough to have the Life Bus this week. Whilst there, we were able to learn about how to live a healthy lifestyle and the ways in which we can say no to things we don't agree with doing, even when we might feel pressure to do so. 

Performing Shakespeare

 As part of our English unit on newspaper reports, we studied Twelfth Night by Shakespeare. During this, we performed part of the play in groups to help us learn the details of the story.
