Calculating Perimeter

Today's maths challenge was to find the perimeter of shapes with missing lengths.  Pupils worked together in groups with peer experts leading the discussion, first colour-coding the sides and then using the bar model to help work out the missing lengths.  Some quick column addition and, hey presto, perimeter calculated!

Road's End Writing: Newspaper Reports

As part of their module on newspaper reports, 5AC watched a fantastic and mysterious short video called Road's End from the Mystery Shed on the Literacy Shed website.
They discussed what they thought was going on in lots of detail, then worked together to plan a newspaper article based around the main event.
With the class plan for support, they wrote their own articles.  A few examples of what they produced are included below.
